✿ Root Causes
Root Causes & Triggers
Acute Traumatic Events
Experiencing a single, overwhelming event such as an accident, natural disaster, or physical assault.
Complex Trauma (C-PTSD)
Prolonged, repeated trauma, often occurring in childhood, such as ongoing abuse, neglect, or domestic violence.
Neurological Alteration
The trauma causes the hippocampus to shrink (memory) and the amygdala to become hyper-reactive (fear).
Islamic Perspective
"Verily, with every hardship comes ease. (Quran 94:5)"
Reflection & Clinical Context
Early Islamic medicine recognized the profound physical impact of grief and severe fright. The Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) 'Year of Sorrow' normalizes profound grief and trauma as a human experience, emphasizing that healing requires time, communal support, and a reaffirmation of safety.
