About the PHQ-9 Depression Screener
The Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) is a widely used, clinically validated instrument designed to screen for and measure the severity of depression. Originally developed by Drs. Robert L. Spitzer, Janet B.W. Williams, Kurt Kroenke, and colleagues, it incorporates DSM-IV depression diagnostic criteria with other leading major depressive symptoms into a brief self-report tool.
